Kili and Denali are Home on the Range

After all of the madness with the fox after our hens this Spring and the disappearance of our billy, Farmer Crossley decided it was time to introduce livestock guard dogs (LGD) to the farm. So, today, we’re welcoming Kilimanjaro (Kili) and Denali to their brand-new home.

Today we drove to southeast Kansas to pick up our 8-week-old babes. They’re fluffy, energetic and giving our three house dogs a real run for their money. No one is quite sure of what to think of our now 5-dog family, but these two are already so sweet and well-behaved that we couldn’t be more excited to have them here.

Our new ladies are full-bred Pyrenees pups. The breed is supposed to be incredible for LGD purposes. They’ll be raised outdoors with the chickens and goats – effectively protecting them from anything that might come to threaten them from the woods.

Until then, though, they’ll just be our cute little fluffs greeting everyone with slobbery kisses and the request of a good belly rub.
