Let There Be Lights

Over the past few years, we’ve really struggled to do the house up in all its Christmas garb the way we’d like. Juggling young kids, a renovation, two full-time jobs and multiple full-time projects – decorating is usually the very last thing on our list. And, it usually gets booted off before we can ever even consider busting out all the stuff.

This year, not only did we get our vintage aluminum tree up, but Aaron also added a beautiful row of giant colored bulbs to the front of the house. It’s a little bit of merry on this still very brown project we’re living in.

The colorful incandescent bulbs have been a total argument of ours since we met. I adore them. They’re romantic, fun and nostalgic. Aaron would rather have LED everything – we’ve I’ve slowly but surely have convinced him is too blue and, thus, lacks the same “magic.”

I couldn’t be more over the moon that he finally caved to my favorites. They remind me of the giant strands my grandma used to hang from her front porch every Christmas before they built an enclosed wrap-around room on the old farmhouse. Someday, our house will have a fresh coat of white paint and these things will really sparkle in the winter wonderland.
