Thanksgiving Chores

In Farm Life by Laura CrossleyLeave a Comment

When all of our other jobs go on vacation, we can fully rely on the farm to keep us busy. Thanksgiving morning arrived with a blast of chilly, frosty air. Despite the holiday and very much in spite of the cold – the chores still needed to be done.

Aaron jumped on the side-by-side to get fresh water to the cows, pass out grain and help a sick bottle calf. Thankfully, he managed to catch a few beautiful photos of the golden sunrise over the frost. Just breathtaking.

It’s been a really weird year, honestly. Right? Between the pandemic and the mental hardships that come along with that – we’ve done our fair share of navigating some pretty rough waters. However, we also know we have tons to be thankful for. These pictures, for starters, are pretty epic reminders.

  • We’re grateful for healthy family and friends.
  • We’re grateful for having moved to this truly beautiful and bountiful place.
  • We’re grateful for the means to run the farm and care for the awesome animals we have here.
  • We lost too many great people in our lives this year. We’re grateful for the time we had with them – even though it was much too short.
  • We’re grateful for the meals that we’ll share with our “bubble” of family members today.
  • We’re grateful for our safe trips to North Carolina and Utah this year – allowing us to keep being passionate travelers despite a pandemic.
  • We’re grateful for our doggos. They’re healthy and happier than ever with all this time we’ve spent at home.
  • We’re grateful for the absolute magic of seeing Isai grow and learn so freaking much on the farm and with his cousins.
  • We’re grateful for reliable full-time work that has put our family first in this crazy time.
  • We’re grateful for an unbelievable animal sitter that loves our beasts just as much as we do.
  • We’re grateful that Isai gets to spend his days with family that – also – love him just as much as we do.
  • We’re grateful for the ability to give to organizations the need a hand up to help others – especially this year.

There’s so much more. Really, I’m sure of it. The problem with trying to note any little bit of gratitude is that it’s simply impossible to list it all. We are so very, very thankful – today and always.
