The Blooms are Happening

After another quick cold snap, we weren’t sure if we’d see much blooming around here this year. Somehow, though, we managed to keep a handful of pretty flowers and are fortunate to see many more to follow soon!

Last year, I attempted to document all the locations of random flowers and plants throughout the property. Still, there’s plenty that surprises us. My Hollyhocks, for example, are returning to the back side of the barn again this year along with the Hostas I haphazardly planted while working on the garden.

It’s also exciting to see the Peonies, Irises and Suprise Lilies all making a return as well.

Sadly, it does look like it will be a bit of a dud year for the Magnolia tree. We used to have one in the backyard of our house in Kansas City and, let me tell you, these delicate babies are always responsive to the cold. This one had already started to bloom and lost it’s flowers to the fast temp drop. We still have some promising buds on it, but it won’t be quite as spectacular as it was promising a week or so ago.
