The Drop-Dead Gorgeous Terrazzo Tile

In Projects and Renovations by Laura CrossleyLeave a Comment

A few weeks ago, I spotted the most incredible Terrazzo tile online. It was a remnant, barely enough existed for our bathroom and I figured it would be an absolute long shot to get it.

I was right. That particular tile was purchased and no longer available, but the rep encouraged me to take a look at several other remnant samples online. I browsed – certain that nothing would ever be able to replace the pick I’d fallen so deeply in love with.

But, there it was. And here it is.

My custom-honed, matte-finish terrazzo is a drop-dead gorgeous blend of teal, blue and amber recycled glass. The combination makes for a relaxing, earthy look that harkens back to the 60s/70s era of the house while fully complementing the modern feel we’re trying to introduce. It’s natural but buttoned-up. Classic and classy. My favorite part: it’s completely unexpected.

Today, my tile arrived. Only one of these beautiful babes cracked and chipped in transit. The remainder look to be in tact and will – soon, I hope – be installed as the floor for our guest bath upstairs.

At $3 per square foot, these tiles are an insane win for our renovation. Typically, a tile like this runs in the $70-80 per square foot range. Especially since these are commercial grade and custom poured. Happening onto the perfect quantity of this tile for our project is a near impossibility. I am simply over the moon that we have such a stunning finish to help us make our mark on this place.
