Mary Mary – quite contrary – had her freaking babies in the Goat Grove. She must have learned a thing or two from our first mama of the season because everyone is healthy, cute and having a great time. But, holy moly, let me tell you the rapid panic that circulates when you get the text that there are two brand spanking new soggy babies hanging out under a heat lamp while the temps drop to single digits and you’re 14 hours away from home.
This is where I have to say that our farm sitter, Colby, total rocked it. She grew up in a farm family around cattle, goats and the whole nine yards. She knows a thing or two about the critters, chores and simply doing what has to be done. So, when we asked her to move the new mama and the babies across the farm and into the barn – she tossed on her boots and handled it.
She loaded them all up in the side-by-side and hauled them to the big barn. She got them snuggled into the new stall with the other mama and babies. And, she made sure everyone was eating and doing great in their new space.
Once again – welcome to the farm, baby goats!
