Aaron and I have been working on plans for the farmhouse renovation since mid-December. Here we are, 4 months later, finally having the opportunity to get started.
We’ve gone several circles with an architect to figure out how to remove walls and open the 1970s layout. Aaron sold our city house in a flash in January which finally gave us the cash on hand to get going with the changes. However, then, the Coronavirus pandemic hit and we had to stall even a bit longer while trying to find a contractor to do the work.
We’re wildly impatient.
Since we’re mostly living in the basement while we wait for all of this work to be done, we decided to take matters into our own hands. At the moment, we’ve got nothing but time – and that time is actually worth a pretty penny in terms of remodeling labor.
So, we grabbed a hammer and a crowbar and started the demolition ourselves.
It is awesome.
With the wall between the upstairs bedrooms removed, we can finally get a sense of the size of our future master ensuite. We still have plenty to continue to remove – but this first chop makes for some exciting momentum.
We’ve also decided to remove a few extra walls in the process. The wide open spaces are giving us more confidence than ever in the possibilities of this house. Full steam ahead!
