Our sweet boy is officially obsessed with fire trucks.
I honestly couldn’t quite tell you where it came from, but suddenly our guy is saying “fire truck” constantly followed by “wee ooo wee ooo.” It’s amazing.
When the weekend hit, I knew exactly what we needed to do. If there is one thing you’re guaranteed by living near a small town in the Fall – it’s that there is a festival happening all day, everyday and there are sure to be cop cars and fire trucks running their lights.
Sure enough – we landed in downtown DeSoto for their Fall Fiesta.
We wandered the street, checked out vendors, grabbed some cotton candy and let our guy run free in the closed street. It was amazing to be early enough in the day that we were one of about a dozen families wandering about.
Like clockwork, as we returned to our car near the fire station, a huge shiny truck pulled right up in front. Isai’s eyes were enormous.
We walked toward it and looked and chatted about the details from a distance. Seeing us – several of the fire fighters came out to meet us and give the kid the experience of his little lifetime.
They put him in the driver’s seat and let him hold the steering wheel. He inspected each wheel and stared deep into the shiny chrome. They even gave him a plastic helment – which he absolutely refused to let go of even though he had no intention of wearing it.
It was seriously the most amazing way to kick off our morning.
